C2 is considered the equivalent level of a native English speaker and is usually a requirement for non-native ESL teachers to prove their competence. However, many students find that they are studying a very high level of the language and learning phrases, idioms and nuances of the language that are not used in everyday speech. There is an art in adapting your language to ensure the listener or audience understand and so C2 is also about having that full range of informal and formal language, everyday spoken English and academic esssay writing.
If you want to study for the C2 exam then these questions should grab your attention.
- If 'barking up the wrong tree' is an expression, can I use 'barking up the right tree'?
- How many idioms is too many?
- Is there a difference between the synonyms like interesting, fascinating, enthralling, captivating, intriguing, compelling?
- Is the passive only used in academic writing?
- What is the subjunctive in English?
- Why oh why do mixed conditionals even exist?
- How do you master the nuances of modals? And are they verbs or not?
- How can I evaluate, summarise and paraphrase two texts yet still stay within the word count?
Our teachers are experienced in working with students who are preparing for C2 exams and we have a high success rate.
