I've been teaching languages for 18 years. I also used to work as a Business Analyst and IT Project Manager in London.
I've taught General English to students of all ages and levels (A1-C2), including Business English and helping students to prepare for Cambridge and IELTS exams. Having studied French and German at university, I understand language learning from a student's perspective too.
What I love about my job is getting to know people from all around the world and hearing more about different places and cultures.
My business background within large international companies and later as a small business owner is a huge benefit when I teach Business English and when it comes to Exam Preparation, I specialise in Cambridge English exams.
What can I say? Teaching and Learning are two sides of the same coin and I enjoy doing both. I won't list everything here but my qualifications include:
- BA(Hons) in French and German
- Certificate in Management Studies
- Post Graduate Certificate in Education
- and I've almost finished the Diploma in TESOL.
Outside of work, I support Translators Without Borders and I volunteer for TutorMate to help school children with literacy skills.
Walking my dog along the beach or by the river is the best way for me to unwind. She's a rescue dog, who follows me everywhere when I'm working from home.
I love travelling too, particularly around Europe. I lived in France and Germany when I was younger and hope to live in Spain in the near future.
I'm also discovering a new hobby, which is DIY (do it yourself); painting, decorating, putting up shelves, upcycling old furniture... I moved house last, so that's why I'm doing so much more of this than ever before.
